Good points, Anne, Cheryl and Melodee.

Changing how you approach tasks makes all the difference. Goals need to be specific and results-oriented to be effective.

Good advice, Cathy. After reading this I checked my Daily Task List and realized that I was just putting down reminders that I need to work on a specific end result, without listing the steps I need to DO to get to the end result. No wonder my list had such a "daunting" look to it! I'll fix it today - thanks!

This better type of goal setting is also important for writers/authors.

Just one example is instead of saying you want to sell my book and make money, it's better to quantify it like as needing to make X amount to pay monthly bills.

A simple but yet often under-utilized, misunderstood concept. Thanks for the post.

It's definitely all about accomplishments, not merely "doing". And you are so right, we all want results, not more busy-work. This is a well written and thought-provoking article, Cathy. Thank you for clearing showing how to recast the tasks on our action list.
