A Dale Carnegie course helped me overcome my fear of public speaking. That and realizing the worst that could happen was complete and total embarrassment.

Once you accept the worst that could happen and realize you would deal with it then the fear simply fades away. Flying used to nearly make me sick with fear. Learning to breathe and meditate before take off and landing helped tremendously.

In many cases fear is simply the unknown. Once it becomes known it is easier to accept and deal with. We commonly fear the things we don't control (flying vs driving).

I have also found that the deeper my faith in God the fewer things I fear. When death is simply a the passage to Heaven it loses a lot of fear.

Now if I could just overcome fear of success :)
